Have you always used OS X – yet maintained a loyalty
for Microsoft? Well, the Microsoft Office Mac – its 2011 edition in particular
may just be the one for you. You can expect that this suite is a great
improvement over Office 2008, and Office 2011 integrates some of the more
essential features that have been part of the office package for quite some
time now. You’ll probably first spot the Ribbon -- which replaces the standard
menu and gives you easy and context based access to very vital functions in the
platform.
In Office 2011, one of the newer, more notable
features is the Templates Gallery which you can find in Word, Excel and
PowerPoint. You will see this from the get-go because it is a default setting. And
this gives you a variety of built in options for templates. These are different
features that constitute, calendars, curriculums vitae. There’s also some
online access where you can get hold of submitted templates. If you’ve been
into iWork, by the way, this will seem like a very similar feature to you, well
good news is you can now have it with the Microsoft app.
Related to galleries, Office 2011 has a really well
integrated media browser. It interfaces much better with OS X and particularly
with iLife. You can browse the other folders and you can import media from
Places, Faces and others that come from Apple programs. You also get limited editing options every
time you import images, this applies to Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Fundamental
functions such as rotating, resizing and color adjustments can be made but of
course you don’t have to do anything extensive if you need to make little
adjustments before you deliver the file.
Office 2011 embraces collaboration much more than
its predecessor. This is accomplished through a SharePoint server or you can
simply use a Live account or OneDrive. This makes it possible to have multiple
authors work on the same document simultaneously. This would be a plus if you
are working with your teammates from a distance. Excel keeps out users from cells that are
being modified by one user, while Word sees to it that whole paragraphs are
taken care of while you are working on the page.
Finally, similar to the Pages software program there
is the Full Screen view in Word, you can focus on the pages of the document you
are working on alone – but as a difference from Pages, you don’t get word or
page count on Microsoft Office Mac 2011. These are
just some of the features in this spectacular upgrade to the MS suite for Apple
users. Just proceed and enjoy your Office for Apple today.
